THE CHALLENGE
This all brick Tudor was located in an upscale historic neighborhood. Our clients wanted to add on a two-story addition while matching the original character of the home. To accomplish this, the old attached garage and 1980's style family room were removed. This allowed for more light into the new family living center and a back yard that was accessible to their young family. It was extremely important to them the Bartelt. The Remodeling Resource. Design Team matched the architectural details of the original home. |
THE SOLUTION
Blending the roofline into the existing was a challenge and an expressed concern of the client. A dormer was added in the new addition to match the existing roofline. For budgetary reasons the client decided to add a brick beltline that tied into the addition of the home. The design team suggested the use of a fiber cement stucco siding by Certainteed. They then added wood battens to accentuate the architectural details of home of this era. This added a stylish alternative to the solid brick option, but proved to be the option that added a lot of elegance to the home as well. A new garage was then built to match some of the new architectural details found in the addition.
